Just an amazing story. The anthology we use in my fifth grade class has an excerpt from the middle of the story. That was enough to excite my students who begged me to get the whole book. Neither my students nor myself have been disappointed with the whole story.

My 7 year old daughter really enjoyed reading this together. The adventures and charaters held our attention and left us talking about them after we set the book down. We were sad when we finished the book.

Where the Mountain Meets the Moon is a wonderful novel to enjoy in the elementary classroom or at home with your family. I loved how the author has used every detail for a purpose in this book. Thinking that Ba's stories are only legend, and then through the journey of Minli it is revealed, part by pleasantly surprising part, that there is substance to his stories, this book is one happy surprise after another! The themes of this book are applicable to us all--contentment, gratefulness, family loyalty, and friendship. A magical, mystical mystery to enjoy!

"Where The Mountain Meets The Moon" is a fantasy-filled story about a little girl who is destined to ask The Man of the Moon how to change her family's fortune. Fiction combined with fantasy can never get as wondrous and fascinating as this. -Matilde Baucom

My children and I really enjoyed listening to this book with its stories within stories that end up connecting with each other. It's slightly reminiscent of the Wizard of Oz but with a Chinese perspective. I know the kids will listen to it again (and again).

There are not enough superlatives to describe this book.

The story is wonderful, every detail intertwined, and joy permeates the pages.

This sets a new standard for children's literature.

***Update -- we found an art project to go with this book -- Donna Hugh's Art Lessons -- volume 3 -- it's a watercolor Chinese Dragon. I uploaded some photos into Customer Images.***

The author creatively weaved in many folk tales in this clever yet sincere book that leads the reader through the journey to where the mountain meets the moon! Many of the characters are familiar to me as they were in the stories that I grew up with in Taiwan. But Grace Lin put them all in this book, in a bigger plot, working together as influencers to a little girl's discovery of life. I found it hard to put down and hope my young son will appreciate this book as much as I do when he is the age to read it himself.

My grand-niece was enthralled with this book from the minute she opened it! Since her class was beginning chapter books, she selected the book for a video presentation. A book that is able to keep a child invested for a length of time is a must have!

I recommend this book for adults and children. I bought as a gift for a 12 year old and decided to read it. I bought it to read to my grand children. I have since read it 3 times. Once with my husband and once with my sister. All three times I have been deeply touched. Such wonderful lessons about what is important in life.

I loved this book because the story of young Minli's quest to change her family's fortune was so engaging; like any good book, the end of one chapter compelled you to read the next. I read this book because I am using it with my 5th graders in September. I hope they'll enjoy the book as much as I did.

My 11 year old granddaughter suggested that I read it becasue she has the book and loves it so she downloaded it on my Kindel. When I started reading it and couldn't stop. It is a delightful book and I enjoyed it just like she said I would!!
I am sure I will be downloading more books.
